Wow! What a fantastic start Seuss Class.
Date: 7th Sep 2024 @ 9:31am
What an incredible first week Seuss class has had! I have been impressed by the brilliant enthusiasm and learning behaviour you have shown us and how quickly you have settled into your morning routines. In English this week, we wrote an acrostic poem about kindness, and two will be chosen for display on our 'Wonderful Writing Wall'.
In the afternoons, we have been learning about all the incredible opportunities to have responsibilities in Perryfields - School Council, Eco Warrior, Digital Leader, House Representative. Don't forget if you would like to apply for a role you will need to come prepared with a speech to share with the class on Monday. Seuss class will then vote for who they would like to be our representatives. This week we also looked at class responsibilities and the children came up with ideas for jobs. They then voted for who would have class responsibilities for this term.
A couple of polite reminders, please ensure that ALL PE kit and uniform is labelled with a name. In the early days of Year 3, children often lose things and it will make it quicker and easier to track things down if they are labelled. PE days are Tuesday and Thursday and the children will keep their kits in school for the whole term. Earrings cannot be worn in PE as part of the Local Authority Policy, children must be able to take them out themselves and if they cannot then please refrain from wearing them on our PE days.
Please can I also remind parents that we are a healthy eating school and the children should not have sweets or chocolate bars for snacks or included in their packed lunch. Thank you.
The children have been given their reading diaries and their reading scheme books will be given to them next week. They have also been given homework to research their house scientist, which can be a poster. Next week we will start our foundations lessons and begin learning about the Stone Age in history and Rocks in science. Don't forget you can view our knowledge organisers linked on our page.
The children have been incredible this week and it has been a joy to get to know them. Well done Hugo for being our first 'Pupil of the Week' and receiving the school 'Good Manners' award.
Have a brilliant and restful weekend.
Mrs Rooney :)
