Wonderful Walliams 18.10.2024

What another phenomenal week in Walliams Class!

Where has this first half a term gone? I cannot believe Walliams Class have nearly been at our school for half a term already! I have been so impressed with the children's determination and work ethic that they apply to every single lesson - I am extremely proud of all of them!

In art, we were drawing natural objects using pencils, charcoal and pastels. At the beginning of the lesson, the children used their prior learning to draw leaves using different types of pencils. The children used their knowledge of the different pencils to create different shading effects and used them to add detail. The children then recreated the same leaf but using charcoal and used the different techniques, including blending, to add finer details. Finally, they used pastels to create their final piece and thought carefully about how to create the leaf using colour and layering techniques.

In science, we looked at soils where we discovered what soil was made from. During the first part of the lesson, the children used sieves and magnifying glasses to look closely at the soil samples that they were given. We then used the soil samples and put them into jars filled with water. The children then looked closely and could see that the different parts had separated which made it clearer for them to see.

I am also extremely impressed by the amount of Nando's homework that has been coming in over the previous weeks! It has been wonderful to see the children engaging in their learning at home as well as in school!

Finally, a huge well done to our 'Pupil of the Week' Aiden! Keep up the brilliant work!
