Wonderful Walliams 14.02.2025

Date: 13th Feb 2025 @ 5:50pm

WOW! What a busy week in Walliams Class! This week has been a whirlwind of exciting activities and has been a brilliant way to end the half term!

We wrapped up our Ancient Egyptian topic by exploring Egyptian gods. The children learned about deities like Anubis, the god of mummification, and Ra, the sun god, discovering how these figures played an important role in Egyptian beliefs and daily life.

In science, we explored how some forces require contact between two objects, while others - like magnetism - can act at a distance. They conducted an experiment where they magnetised a pin by rubbing it and observed how the number of times they rubbed it affected how long it stayed magnetised for.

On Thursday we held an Ancient Egyptian Day, where the children took part in a range of themed activities, including making Canopic Jars, hieroglyph writing, making Egyptian jewellery, and even re-enacting a grand celebration for the new queen, Nefertiti, and Pharaoh Akhenaten. It was a fantastic way to bring history to life!

To finish the week, we took part in our annual Safer Internet Afternoon as part of Safer Internet Day. The children engaged in discussions and activities based on this year’s theme: "Too Good to Be True? Protecting Yourself and Others from Scams Online." They learned how to spot misleading information, question suspicious online offers and stay safe in the digital world.

Have a wonderful half term!
