Tolkien Class update 8/11/24
Date: 8th Nov 2024 @ 3:54pm
Welcome back, everyone! We hope you all had a lovely half term break and are feeling refreshed and ready for the exciting weeks ahead in Tolkien Class.
This week, our children delivered two remarkable performances for our Harvest Festival—first for the school and then for their parents. It was heartwarming to see how well they remembered their lines and song lyrics; their hard work truly paid off. A huge congratulations to all the children for their outstanding effort and enthusiasm and thank you to all parents that came to show their support on Thursday morning!
In Geography, we embarked on an intriguing new topic: Volcanoes. The children were eager to learn about what defines a volcano and were particularly fascinated by their locations across Europe. We explored the different types of volcanoes and even looked into the active volcanoes that define our continent. It was thrilling to witness such enthusiasm, and I could sense their curiosity building as we dove deeper into this subject.
Moving on to Science, we began testing the different properties of materials, which served as an excellent introduction to our upcoming topic. The children experimented with various substances, observing their characteristics and discussing their findings. Their analytical skills were on full display, and it was encouraging to see them engage in hands-on learning.
In English, we made significant progress by editing and publishing the first of our two suspense stories. This week's creation was inspired by the captivating narrative of Francis. The children worked diligently on crafting their tales, and it was amazing to hear how their imaginations brought the suspense genre to life.
Lastly, I cannot ignore the heightened engagement in our new class book, Groosham Grange. The children are finding the quirky characters and intriguing plot incredibly compelling, which has sparked lively discussions and predictions in class.
What a week it has been! Here's to many more engaging and imaginative adventures ahead!
