Tolkien Class Update 7/3/25
Date: 7th Mar 2025 @ 6:39pm
We have had another brilliant and busy week in Tolkien Class. This week, not only have we had a busy and enjoyable week in the classroom, but it has also extended to many extra curricular activities.
We started the week with a geography fieldwork trip down to the River Chelmer. The children were engrossed with a hands on experience when learning about our new geography topics, Rivers. We learned that part of the river that flows through Chelmsford is the middle course, looked at both physical and human geography in the area and made note of wildlife that resides around the area.
On Tuesday, we sat down with two police officers from Essex police who spoke to the children about their roles as officers in the community and how the children can remain safe both outside in the community and online. They also spoke to the children about the transition to secondary school and how to stay safe on their journeys. In addition to this, we spent time over at the infant school to support Year 2 with their reading.
The week ended with a fantastic day dedicated to World Book Day. It was great to see the children celebrating the day by dressing up and getting in the World Book Day spirit. We enjoyed a story from a professional story teller, who then spent an hour with the children in a story telling workshop. The children also had the opportunity to be creative when writing poems which highlighted the positives of reading for pleasure.
What a week! Enjoy your weekends everyone.
