Tolkien Class Update 24/1/25

Date: 24th Jan 2025 @ 2:03pm

This week in Tolkien Class has been a vibrant blend of creativity and learning as we embarked on a new cycle of English work based on the enchanting tale of Aladdin. Our budding writers have begun to craft a vivid setting description of Agrabah, bringing to life the bustling streets, vibrant markets, and the mystique of the magical city. In addition, the students displayed their imaginative flair in character descriptions, focusing on the delightful yet mischievous Genie, whose personality shines as brightly as his magical powers. The highlight of our English sessions was undoubtedly the dialogue activity, where the children constructed an engaging conversation between Aladdin and Jafar, exploring their contrasting motivations and personalities.

In maths, we concluded our unit on fractions, where the children honed their skills through a series of engaging activities and problem-solving tasks.

Our science lessons were equally thrilling this week, as we delved into the movements of planets within our solar system. To grasp this complex concept, we incorporated a fun practical activity that allowed the students to demonstrate planetary orbits using simple materials. It was a hands-on approach that certainly ignited their interest and curiosity about our universe.

Physical education was quite active this week, with two engaging lessons focusing on different skills. The children enjoyed a hockey session that emphasized teamwork and strategy, followed by a circuit training lesson that combined various physical challenges. It was wonderful to see everyone participating enthusiastically and improving their fitness levels.

On the language front, our French lesson introduced the concept of telling the time. The students enjoyed learning this practical skill, which not only enriches their linguistic abilities but also fosters a cultural appreciation for the French language.

Lastly, we took a fascinating journey back in time to explore daily life in the Tudor period. The children engaged in research that provided insights into the lives of people during this historic era, encompassing everything from household chores to significant events. It was a delightful way to merge our English skills with history, reinforcing the importance of context in understanding the past.

Overall, it has been a week filled with learning, creativity, and a healthy dose of fun in Tolkien Class!

Have a great weekend everyone!
