What an unforgettable day Year 6 had on World Book Day, 7th March! The children’s costumes were truly spectacular, showcasing a huge range of book characters—from timeless classics to modern favorites. The creativity and effort put into each outfit were inspiring and made for a truly festive atmosphere.

Our day kicked off with a fantastic storytelling assembly led by professional storyteller Mike Dodsworth. His captivating performance drew everyone in, and the children were absolutely spellbound by his voice, expressions, and the way he brought stories to life. After the assembly, the children were inspired to write their own poems about the importance of reading for pleasure. It was amazing to see their thoughts and feelings about reading expressed so creatively!

In the afternoon, we continued our adventure in storytelling, this time with a drama workshop led by Mike. The students had the opportunity to step into the spotlight, with some taking on the role of a storyteller themselves. They learned new ways to use their voices and bodies to bring stories to life, and the atmosphere was filled with laughter, creativity, and excitement.

Meanwhile, in science, we were busy exploring how exercise affects our hearts. The children took part in an experiment that helped them understand how physical activity increases heart rate, and they were able to draw some fascinating conclusions from their observations. It was a great mix of learning and fun as we made connections between science and our everyday lives.
