In English this week, we explored diary writing inspired by The Lighthouse Keeper, focusing on using informal and emotive language to express our feelings. In history, we examined evacuation during the Second World War, looking at who was evacuated and the reasons behind these decisions. The children analysed firsthand accounts from individuals who experienced evacuation, gaining a deeper understanding of their emotions and challenges. Through discussions, we evaluated the pros and cons of being evacuated, considering both the safety it provided and the hardships faced by families. The insights shared were thought-provoking and sparked engaging conversations about the impact of war on everyday life.

We also celebrated the European Day of Languages! The theme was "Peace for Europe," and the children really embraced it. They created brilliant posters illustrating their interpretations of peace in different European cultures.

In science this week, we explored the inheritance of genes, focusing on dominant and recessive traits. The children learned how these genes determine physical characteristics, such as eye colour and height. Through engaging activities and discussions, they gained a deeper understanding of genetics and how traits are passed down through generations.

Well done to Samuel for being awarded our Pupil of the Week.

Have a great weekend 😊
