This week in Year 6, we’ve had a fantastic time filled with exciting learning and discoveries! In science, we delved into the fascinating world of microorganisms. We learnt about the different types, such as bacteria, viruses, and fungi. Some microorganisms are helpful—like the ones used to make bread rise or to produce yogurt—while others can cause illness. We even examined the role microorganisms play in decomposition and how they help recycle nutrients in nature. It was fascinating to see how something so tiny can have such a big impact on the world around us!

In geography, we explored the concept of Fairtrade and the positive impact it has on farmers, workers, and their communities. We discussed how Fairtrade ensures fair prices, safer working conditions, and better support for producers in developing countries. Through case studies, we saw how buying Fairtrade products like chocolate, bananas, and coffee can empower entire communities by improving schools, healthcare, and infrastructure. It reminded us how our choices as consumers can make a real difference.

Well done to Bella for being awarded our Pupil of the Week.

Have a lovely weekend :)
