Lewis Class 12.01.2024

Date: 14th Jan 2024 @ 5:06pm

What a super first week back in Lewis Class!

This week, we have started looking at our new topics in all of our lessons!

In English this week, we started our unit around the book Escaping From Pompeii. During the week, the children applied their retrieval and vocabulary skills during our reading comprehension and applied their writing skills whilst writing their character and setting descriptions. The children also started writing informal letters as a child escaping the volcanic eruption to ask for help.

In Science, we started our unit on sound where we looked at how sound is formed and we conducted an experiment around the school using decibel readers which enabled us to find out the noise level in different areas of the school.

In History, we started our looking at the Romans. During the lesson, we were using our chronology skills where we discovered how the Roman Empire spread over time and how they took control over most of Europe.

It has been fantastic to already start receiving Nando's homework from our Spring Nando's! I cannot wait to see more of them!

Well done to our 'Pupil of the Week' Monty who produced a fantastic narrative poem about growth mindset which will also be displayed on our 'Wonderful Writing Wall'.

Also, well done to Sreehas who was our chosen entry for the 'Mighty Oak Public Speaking Poetry Competition'. Sreehas has received a 'Certificate of Honourable Mention' for creating a poem full of creativity and which impressed the judges.

Have a fantastic weekend!

Miss Kingston :)
