Headteacher update-04/07/2024

Date: 4th Jul 2024 @ 7:45am

Again, such a busy week…

Firstly, massive congratulations to our netball team in played in the Chelmsford Finals on Wednesday. This competition was for those teams who have won their previous rounds against other Chelmsford schools, so it really was a tough rally, but …. they won! We are so proud of their commitment to win, their teamwork, perseverance and skill-what a team! Our Super Coach, Mrs Gregory was smiling and smiling-thank you for all the effort you have put into developing our team into great players!

Also, well done to all Year 6 children who have taken part in ECC Bikeability sessions this week. Bikeability cycle training equips children with vital life skills. Children are not only learning to cycle, they are also gaining independence, social skills and a sense of wellbeing. Research shows that after Bikeability training, children are better at responding to risk and report increased confidence. As a result, more children cycle to school which in turn improves mental health and wellbeing. Thanks go to all parents who have supported Bikeability and also to Mrs Siddall for organising the training.

Lots of parents and carers have made some very kind comments to me during my final few weeks in school and I really appreciate your kindness. It is, of course, very difficult to leave a school you love. However, I am very pleased to report that, following my retirement this summer, Mrs Edwards will be Acting Headteacher from September 2024, until the recruitment process has been completed. This appointment will ensure that our consistent procedures and routines will run as normal for the Autumn term.

Also, a big thank you to our kind and FIPS team, who organised a brilliant school Hawaiian disco on Thursday! This event will raise much needed funds for our school and it just wouldn’t happen without the support of our community, parent volunteers and staff who helped - so once again, thank you very much!
