Headteacher Round-up!

Date: 25th Sep 2023 @ 11:12am

It’s also been really encouraging to see lots of our children participating in our football and netball trials this week. Miss Gregory and Mr Taylor were very impressed with those children who took part - well done! All sports clubs will begin next week and I do hope that as many children as possible make the most of the opportunities on offer.

On the subject of leadership and fitness, I was so pleased to see that our Sports Captains successfully led the skipping competitions during Wednesday’s National Day of fitness - well done.  During the day, our whole school community enjoyed lots of exercise both inside and outside of the classroom - it was exhausting and exhilarating. A super initiative!

Congratulations to all those children who have been elected as School Council, Digital Leaders, Eco Warriors and House Captains. I am sure you will use your new leadership roles wisely.

I would like to take this opportunity to remind you all of the importance of reading with your child and how good attendance impacts on their outcomes in school. Reading with your child each day is vital to them becoming a competent reader. If you do not read with your child regularly they will be at a disadvantage both now and into the future. There is no short cut and our experience tells us that those parents who have a routine for reading each evening will be setting their child up for success.

Likewise, if your child’s attendance is below 95%, they will be at a disadvantage both academically and socially. Academically because they will miss learning and socially because new friendships may be made when they are not in school. Consequently, unless your child has particular medical issues which we will be aware of, please ensure your child is in school every day. The link below contains information about sending your child to school with a mild illness which may be a helpful reference.
