Headteacher Round-up!

Date: 17th Jul 2023 @ 9:44am

Firstly, thank you to Essex Fire and rescue who led a whole school Summer Safety assembly on Monday. The presenter addressed issues relating to children staying safe in the water (beach and pool), in the park, road safety etc during the long summer break - a very worthwhile and valuable learning experience for us all.

Some of you may be aware that Year 4 children are now expected to complete the Government’s on-line Multiplication Check. This took place over the past few weeks and we are very pleased with our results. There is no ‘pass mark’ for the check and individual school results are not published. However, last year's national data indicates that 27% of all Year 4 pupils achieved 25/25 and had an average score of 19.8. In comparison, 40% of Perryfields’ pupils achieved 25/25 and had an average score of 22.1. Overall, 97% of Perryfields’ pupils achieved 16/25 or above. Well done Year 4!

Some of our Year 5/6 pupils had the opportunity to attend a Design and Technology lesson experience at Boswells School this week. The children had a chance to use a disk sander, coping saw and file to create a wooden spinning top. As well as this, the children were also able to use a strip heater and a pillar drill to create a plastic photo stand. All pupils displayed fantastic determination and perseverance- you are great ambassadors for our school. Thank you, Boswells for providing this valuable learning experience!

As the year draws towards a close and we are in the last weeks of our clubs, we have taken the opportunity to review our sports provision. All in all, throughout the whole year we have provided 43 sports clubs and 42% (127) of our children have competed in 41 matches/tournaments outside Perryfields and 70% (210) of our children have attended at least 1 club in the year! All our children have also had the opportunity to compete in House competitions i.e. netball, rounders, dodgeball, sports day. This is an amazing achievement-thank you to all staff who have helped our thriving sports department!

A big thank you to our kind and FIPS team, who organised a brilliant school disco on Thursday! This event will raise much needed funds for our school and it just wouldn’t happen without the support of our community, parent volunteers and staff who helped - so once again, thank you very much!
