Getting Ready for Half-term...
Date: 23rd May 2024 @ 9:59am
Firstly, a huge thank you to the motivational Paralympic swimmer, Jordan Catchpole, who came into school on Monday to talk to the children about how he overcame so many obstacles to achieve great international successes. Jordan mesmerised the children with his perseverance and determination and they were inspired to hear about all his achievements. Thanks go to Miss Howlett for organising this visit
Also, well done to our netball team who have played two local matches was against Tyrells and Springfield this week; we were delighted with both our wins at home (28-0) and away (13-4)-all the teams played with great skill and team spirit. Well done! Thank you to all our parents who came to support us and of course Miss Gregory for coaching the team.
Our football team were also in action against Tyrells and (with only 7 players, so no substitutes), they showed outstanding skill and team work and won 3-1! Great result-well done team and our coach, Mr Smith!
We welcomed Maldon First-Aid Roadshow back into school for our Year 6 pupils. this week. The roadshow has been a mix of visual power point, videos and hands on practice. The emergency training included: arriving at the scene, casualty assessment, contacting the emergency services, placing a casualty in Recovery position (hands on practice). Awareness of respiratory and circulation system, how to administer cardio pulmonary resuscitation on equipment, awareness of a defibrillator and how to access one. This was a really informative immersive experience for Year 6-thank you Maldon First Aid!
With SATs now in their wake, Year 6 haven't wasted a moment and have dived straight into our SAVE THE WORLD topic and have been producing lots of interesting and insightful work; they have also been very excited about auditioning for their summer production, The Pied Piper-we can't wait to see it!
As always, so great to share so many exceptional achievements and Personal Bests in Celebration Assembly today-how lucky are we!
