Dahl Class Update

Date: 8th Dec 2023 @ 3:14pm

In Dahl Class this week, we have made a start on our 2 week unit of poetry in our English lessons. Our poems of choice - black out poems. The children impressed the Year 5 team with their creativity and determination to black out their poems leaving just a Christmas message behind.

In maths, we have made a start with our fraction topic after finishing with perimeter and area earlier on in the week. I've been particularly impressed with their knowledge of equivalent and abilities to simplify fractions. In addition to this, the children we used our knowledge to tackle tricky problem solving and reasoning questions.

The children showed real enthusiasm and interest when learning about the volcanic eruption of Heimaey in 1973. Using their geography skills, they were able to explain how the human and physical of island was affected. We finished the week painting our cam toys which have made huge progress and just require the finishing touches.

Away from classroom lessons, we held round one of Perryfields Got Talent. I was really impressed with the talent in show and the children have a tough choice on who to put forward to the final.

A special mention as always to our Pupil of the Week. Well done Gabi thoroughly deserved!

Have a great weekend everyone!
