A classroom full of historians and scientists!

Date: 20th Sep 2024 @ 4:02pm

This week in Lewis, everyone had special jobs; no longer primary school pupils but historians and scientists instead!

In History, we completed our own research on how aspects such as sport, entertainment, money and armour have changed over time. It was fascinating to compare what happened in Ancient Egypt, to Ancient Greece and then what we do now! We're so glad that nowadays there are team sports and women are allowed to compete, unlike in the first Olympics.

We're learning about states of matter in Science and we can all name several different examples of solids, liquids and gases. It was discussed how it is difficult for us to investigate gases; however, we did - with an experiment! We started with a cup of cola, which was already teeming with bubbles - evidence of gas. Everyone predicted what they think may happen if we poured salt into the cup: more bubbles, nothing will happen and explosions were some of the suggestions. Thankfully, it didn't explode but we did witness an incredible chemical reaction producing more bubbles of carbon dioxide. Everyone is eager to see where our investigations take us next week...

Well done to everyone who has brought in their house homework; everything looks truly incredible. I can't wait for it to be displayed next Friday for all the school to see.

Have a brilliant weekend and I will see you all next week.
